Background

Balorg was one of Vryer's good old-fashioned genetic creations, designed for dirty work and intimidation. But it has to be said he was a complete failure as he turned out to be a real lily-livered coward! As a result he had to be filled with Ergoserum to undo his useless hormonal equilibrium and make him a little more aggressive and efficient.

Missions

  • He's watching you: Remove 20 Pillz from your opponents with Balorg

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages:

  • His base power is 7, which is really good for a 2*.
  • His base damage is 2, but becomes 4 with fury, allowing you to 2HKO with other members of GHEIST.
  • His ability removes two pillz from your opponent if you win with him.
  • The minimum for his ability is one, which is very low.
  • His ability makes him a good bluff to use against your opponent.
  • The clan bonus cancels an opposing card's ability, which makes fights easier.
  • He is a 2*, so he makes room in your deck.

Disadvantages:

  • His base damage is 2, which is low, though normal for a 2*.
  • His ability is Courage-based, meaning you only have two chances to activate it. Plus, it makes him predictable.
  • His ability is less useful in the later rounds.
  • He has competition from the other 2* in GHEIST.

Trivia

  • The Ergoserum which is mentioned in his bio is a reference to fellow Gheist member, Dr Ergo.
  • His name is an anagram of Street Fighter character, Balrog.
    • Balrog is also the name of a creature that accosts the Fellowship of the Ring during their expedition through the Mines of Moria, from the book of the same name by J.R.R. Tolkien.
  • His second level artwork bears a slight resemblance to Zangief, another Street Fighter character.
  • The process in which the serum is added to his body, and the way he looks at level two, makes reference to Bane from the Batman comics.
